The FAA Journal is our main publication for astrology articles, items of interest and a roundup of affiliate association affairs. It is published four times per year and is issued in the first week of March, June, September and December.

Primary considerations

  • Articles need to show a good understanding of astrological principles.
  • Articles need to be about astrology, or matters relevant to astrology with references to astrology included, with the main body of the work devoted to astrological discussion.
  • Preference is given to articles that have not appeared in any other publication. Please advise the editor if the article has been previously published or has been sent to other publishers.

Length

  • Maximum length is 4000 words and shorter is preferable (1000 - 3000 words). Longer articles may be divided into smaller parts for publication.

Data sources

  • All data sources for astrology charts should be given. If you have got your data from a Data Collection or biography, please cite the name of the collection or book.
  • Please endeavour to utilise Lois Rodden’s Rating System as given here:
  • AA: Birth Certificate; Birth Record; state, church or family records; A: Accurate data from person, family, or associate; B: Biography or autobiography; C: Caution; no source of origin; DD: Dirty Data: more than one time/date/place/source

Quotes

  • Any direct quotes from books, magazines, articles, journals, etc must be in quotes with full reference to the source in a reference section at the end of your article. When citing your references please follow this procedure for books — cite the name of the Author first, then the Title of the book, Publisher, Place of publication, Year of publication, then relevant Page numbers.
  • eg. Howard Sasportas, The Twelve Houses, The Aquarian Press, London, 1985 pp. 271-72 When citing periodicals or magazines, Author, Title of article, Title of publication, Date of publication, Page number.
  • eg Babula Phillips, Lilith the Black Moon, The FAA Journal, March 1998, p 33.

Your contact information

  • Please supply your contact information — name, address, phone, fax, etc. as well as a short biography (about 50-1 00 words) and a photograph of yourself if available.

Sending submissions

  • All submissions must be sent via email.
  • Text should be in a format readable by Miscrosoft Word or InDesign (PC version); and photos as a PDF or jpg.
  • Please do NOT include charts or diagrams within the text file. Charts or diagrams must be attached seperately.
  • Astrological charts must be in Solar Fire format or a .jpg if created in a different program.
  • Please list all chart data at the end of your article including the exact positions of the Moon and Ascendant to ensure accurate reproduction.
  • If you are without email facilities please send submisissions on a 3.5 floppy disk or CD. These will not be returned unless accompanied by a self addressed and stamped envelope or satchel.
