(view Conference Lectures)

Robert Hand is one of the world’s leading and most esteemed astrologers. In 1960, aged 17, he was introduced to astrology by his father, Wilfred C. Hand, who used heliocentric planetary positions to predict stock prices and was a specialist in Heliocentric astrology and Cosmobiology. He continued doing astrology while studying the history and philosophy of science at Brandeis University, the University of California at Berkeley, and Princeton University. He has written five highly acclaimed books (Planets in Transit, Planets in Composite, Planets in Youth, Horoscope Symbols and Essays on Astrology) and many articles and prefaces. He has also lectured throughout Europe and in India, Australia and New Zealand. From 1972-1990, he served as a director of the National Council for Geocosmic Research, and was Chairman from 1990-1999.

Among the many honours Hand has received are the United Astrology Congress’ first Regulus Award for Astrological Innovation and Research in 1989 and, as one of the principals of Project Hindsight, received that award again in 1995. He also holds the Southern Cross Award from the Federation of Australian Astrologers, the Neil Michelsen Award from the Global Research Forum, and appointment as a Patron of the Faculty of Astrological Studies in Great Britain.

In 1977 Robert Hand began writing astrological programs for personal computers, and in 1979 he gathered several of his astrological colleagues to found Astro-Graphics Services (now Astrolabe) to make the benefits of computers available to other astrologers.

Rob is currently focusing his attention on traditional astrology, publishing translations by himself and others of ancient and medieval works, as well as new works on traditional astrology through ARHAT, the Archive for the Retrieval of Historical Astrological Texts. Peter Burns
(view Conference Lectures)

Peter Burns has been involved with astrology and palmistry since the early 1980’s and has been trained in both modern and traditional astrology. He has consulted hundreds of people, and has been actively involved in teaching. He was a guest speaker on ABC radio in Western Australia and on 3RRR in Melbourne.

Peter has lectured at the Western Australian and Victorian Astrological Associations, and at the 2004 and 2010 International FAA Astrology Conferences, where he spoke on the Fixed Stars and Financial Astrology. He has been national editor of the quarterly Journal of the FAA since 2000. His successful predictions include the recent global financial crisis.

Peter is passionate about the need for beginning astrologers to acquire a solid foundation in the ‘first principles’ of astrology, and now runs an online Horary Astrology Diploma Course. He points out that the sole focus of the horary chart is the question asked, and that this ancient technique overcomes the problem of inaccurate birth times. He says that the internal integrity, subtlety and depth of horary astrology has a beauty all of its own.
Peter also believes that the manifest outcome of the horoscope is contained on the hands and the time-lines on the palm, and that when consulting astrologers have been trained in the use of this amazing tool, their competence and effectiveness is greatly improved. He is seeking to promote a greater awareness of ‘hand astrology’ through his Palmistry Diploma Course.

Roderick Kidston
(view Conference Lectures)

Roderick began learning astrology in 1974 at the age of thirteen, from his self-taught mother. An early fan of adding asteroids to the astrologer’s repertoire, he now finds it impossible to read a horoscope fully without the so-called ‘minor planets’. The study of harmonics has also been a passion, and for more than a decade he has been investigating how harmonic patterns may explain both material evolutionary potential, and the inner workings and drives of the mind and soul.
He is interested in a more integral approach to astrology that links with developments in depth and transpersonal psychology, metaphysics and the new physics. This includes the new insights offered by the spiral dynamics theory of the evolution of consciousness. He wrote for the Wellspring AstroLog from its first publication (as the WellBeing Astrology Guide) in 1997 until it ceased in 2009, and has been published in the FAA Journal and in two other small journals in Australia. He has taught astrology in Canberra, given talks and workshops in several cities, and been a speaker at the Marriage of Minds conference in 2003, and at the FAA Conferences in 2006, 2008 and 2010. Roderick is also the author of the asteroid report writer called The Iris Asteroids Report, produced by Cosmic Patterns Software.

The author of four books on astrology, Michael is also renowned for such stirring evening presentations as “Saturday Night at the End of the World in Cleveland” and “My Mother Smoked During Pregnancy”. He is both (in) famous and beloved in the astrological world for his powerfully insightful work, coupled with his side-splitting, razor sharp humor. Consequently, besides being highly respected by his colleagues, readers and students for his professionalism and knowledge, he is also a highly sought after celebrity and performer (if we’re lucky) at any conference or event he graces with his presence.

Has spoken before the Harvard Business School Alumni and at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. In addition to lectures, workshops, and seminars internationally he is the author of four musical plays and four books including Sunshines, and The Astrology of Being Happy.
