Time; sometimes a mystery, sometimes our master. Some-times there’s not enough time; sometimes it takes forever. Pericles the great architect of the Parthenon said ‘time is the wisest counsellor of all’. Being astrologers, it is central to our craft and for this reason, coupled with the mystique surrounding 2012, we chose our theme Weaving the Fabric of Time. How we participate with time is somewhat akin to how we weave our fate.
We all have different concepts and beliefs about how time and astrology work; however, in the end, the subjective experience of both time and astrology can accommodate all these beliefs and ideas. Hence our lecture tracks are time-themed:
- Chronus: Real Time
- Kairos: At the Right Time
- Synchronous: Together at the Same Time
- Dreamtime: Soul Time
- Sidereal Time: Astrological Techniques through Time
All types of astrology are woven through the program.
Birth Time? And what about the time we start: the chart of the conference? Well the conference will move through time. Our first time is pre-conference time when we open the Robert Hand workshop on Wednesday, January 18th at 10 am at the Abbotsford Convent. On Thursday morning many of you will be attending the workshops with Ben, Michael or Melanie also starting at 10 am that morning. The registration desk will be open from 8 am and we will have an official opening at 1.05 that afternoon. This is more a convenient time than an elected time as the National Executive meeting and the workshops will break for lunch and will be able to attend the opening. We have planned a short but interesting opening. At 4.50 pm that afternoon we will kick off the lectures with Robert Hand and following we will have an informal opening with a Meet the Speakers cocktail party to socialise and play! Is time fixed or fluid? Will each chart reveal a glimpse of what might be?
Time of arrival? If you send me a quick email with your time of arrival including the Airline and Flight number we will attempt to match up people who are arriving at the same time so you can taxi share. We will put you in contact with one another via email to firm that up.
Conference Times: Upon registration you will receive your conference bag along with your program which will outline all the lecture times and lecture rooms – the names of our lecture rooms honour some of our astrological elders: Claudius Ptolemy, Guido Bonatti, William Lilly, Johannes Kepler and Dane Rudhyar and inside the program will be a map for you. There will be two sittings for lunch which will ease congestion so we will ask that everyone sticks to their assigned lunch time.
As I mentioned in the last newsletter we have had one schedule change and the new lecture details are on the website along with the new amended conference program. We have also released a limited number of one-day and two-day tickets if you have any friends who may be interested.
Unfortunately, Spica Books – who is usually at all our conferences – is unable to come to the trade fair. As a result, the Zodiac Conference Bookshop has been born and will have its beginning at the conference. This bookshop is administered by the FAA for its members and we will endeavour to have as many of the speaker’s books, classics and new ones as possible.
We will be in touch with everyone early in the New Year to confirm all your accommodation details as well as how to get to the colleges, as well as any other information that you might need.
In signing off I would like to wish you all the best for the times to come as we enter into the festive season, the solstice period: Happy Holidays and all the best for the New Year of 2012.
Brian
